Reference photos

Decide whether to use your own reference photos or a virtual model, then prepare a clear identity reference.

  • Choose the identity route that fits your goal.
  • Check clarity, lighting and permission before uploading.

Start with the identity decision

If you want the result to resemble you, read which reference photos to upload. A clear view of your face is more useful than a dramatic picture that hides it.

If you are exploring a concept before choosing a personal portrait, compare your own photos and a virtual model. Public virtual people are a different starting point; they are not evidence of how accurately a personal reference will be reproduced.

Before sending personal images, work through the AI photo app privacy checklist. Once references are ready, arrange a six-photo plan.

If the first result feels unfamiliar, use the likeness checklist. If the first result is right but later ones drift, read face consistency across a set.
